We’re looking for a well-rounded Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work closely with research & development teams and operate and improve our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Our team is a hybrid data and infrastructure team that has knowledge about our data pipelines and storage and how to maintain and improve them. All of our environments are running in the cloud and our task is to make them scalable, available and secure. We are true believers in automation and build solutions that minimize manual configuration and operational burden.
• As a company, we value small, working pieces over a “work in progress”. Having the possibility to constantly push improvements to our service is really important for us and our team has even built our own deployment system that makes deployments fun again.
• Due to the seasonality of e-commerce, we have compelling technical challenges during the shopping season. Some of the global brands we're working with have flash sales with mind-boggling traffic numbers that are not for the faint-hearted. You will participate in ongoing work to ensure we can meet these expectations and will contribute to load testing the service to make sure we keep up with the lightning-fast response times.
• You will be working together with the team to design, build and maintain our core databases and data storage that allows Nosto to scale to support millions of concurrent visitors. With tens of terabytes of data and a rapidly growing customer base, we need to be smart with the technologies we use and sometimes challenge the earlier routes we've taken.

There are a lot of different technologies we use at SearchNode and we're not expecting you to master all of them. Talent and the right attitude will definitely take you a long way. We also believe you would bring something new to the team with you. Here are some traits we're expecting you to have:

• Proven experience (4+ years) as an SRE/DevOps Engineer or in a similar developer role
• Good understanding of Linux systems administration and networking
• Experience and interest in writing fully automated services
• Desire to learn new things and to improve existing solutions
• Cooperation and knowledge-sharing skills
• Analytical mindset and desire to walk the extra mile to troubleshoot daunting challenges.

Nice to have skills:

These are not hard requirements or skills we’re expecting you to already have but something we appreciate and will be valuable on your journey at SearchNode:

• Previous experience working with NoSQL databases
• Exposure to infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform
• Being comfortable writing code with Ruby, Go or Python
• Enthusiasm for writing blog posts
• Familiarity with building OS (operating system) packages
• A new skill you can teach to others
