Directory and Authentication Engineer

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As our new Directory and Authentication Engineer, you will be adept at planning, implementing, and advising the use of Microsoft and other authentication technologies, and will be a key player in driving the successful implementation of MFA and SSPR. This will include:

Work closely with application, infrastructure teams, and vendors to collect, review and evaluate new solution requirements.

Participate in the Design, implementation, and management of self-service password reset (SSPR) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions, including user enrollment, policy enforcement, integration with IT systems and applications, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance.

Evaluate and align strategic solutions across platforms and solutions specific to system hardware and software technologies.

Participate, review, and influence long term capacity planning and new technology investments.

Comfortable being called into to resolve AD (active directory) and Azure AD infrastructure problems;

Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and partners to integrate MFA with other IT systems and applications, such as VPN, remote access, or cloud-based services, ensuring seamless and secure user experience.

Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues;

Take ownership for MFA-related issues, including incident resolution and ensure high availability and performance of the MFA solution.

Able to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment;

Develop and maintain documentation and technical guides related to SSPR and MFA, including user guides, troubleshooting guides, and system configuration documentation.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

At least 3 years on the job experience in IT engineering or related roles, with specific experience in implementing MFA.

Broad foundational knowledge of general IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Windows Server, DNS, Network, VPN, to be able to communicate effectively with technical experts.

Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with IT team members, security teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

Experience with Azure Cloud. Familiar with the administration of Azure AD. Should have a working knowledge of Azure MFA and Azure SSPR.

Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with MFA technologies, such as RSA SecurID, Duo Security, Microsoft Authenticator, or other MFA solutions.

Ability to create functional and reusable PowerShell scripts and understands the value as a force multiplier.
